Eric and I met as college freshman on the way to freshman orientation. We've been a team ever since. We married as mere babes in 1996 after we graduated college. We are both followers of Christ and are raising our family to know Him. It took us several years of infertility until Allyson came along in 1999. After a difficult pregnancy and way too many months of bed rest, Ally came into the world absolutely perfect. She was a true miracle.
Several years later, God laid it on my heart that we were missing someone in our family. Not a baby, not a pregnancy, but a person. It was then we moved forward with our adoption of Grant. He was the most adorable, chubby, somber baby in all of Kazakhstan.....and he was all ours from the second we laid eyes on him. He came home in 2004. We thought we were complete, but God had other plans. I asked my husband several times after Grant came home if we could adopt again. His answer was always "No. We're complete". I stopped asking after the realization that if God wanted us to adopt again, He would make it Eric's desire.
In the spring of 2009, Eric came home saying he wanted to look into adopting an older child. I had agencies lined up and referrals on the computer in no time! God laid it on his heart after a dear, little, forgotten girl that he coached gave him a big hug and said, "Man, I REALLY wish you were MY dad." In June 2009, we saw Huyan Saner's little baby face. Although younger than we were thinking we would adopt, he was ours. Boy, is he ever! He fits into our family like he has always been here. He is full of life and personality. What an amazing journey God has given us. His journey is so much better than what I had envisioned for myself. I'm so glad I listened to my heart.
