Mr. Baseball and the Boys of Summer

Grant had a baseball tournament this weekend with three games on Saturday and two games on Sunday. We all piled into the car and headed for the fields hoping for a win.

The mascot even helped warm up. He's got quite an arm on him!

Eric is really enjoying baseball season with the boys. Watching Jake dig in the dirt while piling it in his glove is...well, ......parental duty. I think it's hilarious. Grant, however, is playing some real hard ball this year and all my boys have spent oodles of time in the backyard playing catch and hitting the ball.

That's Mr. Baseball warming up prior to the game.

They all played well Saturday and Grant even pitched his first inning. He did AWESOME!!!! He's been dying to pitch so he was incredibly excited when coach said he could.

Okay, nothing to do with baseball, but hubby and I had a date night at a juvenile diabetes gala Saturday night. Needless to say, it was a busy day and I was hoping my sneaker indentations in my feet didn't show. We didn't end up with any wins on the silent auction items but the live auction items were fun to sit through. Incredible amounts of money were raised for diabetes research. Oh, wait! I did win one auction: a "lovely" flower arrangement from our table. Oh well, all for a good cause.

I just love this picture. I think it's so adorable and telling of just how cute nine year old boys are.

This cracks me up too. Boy, they do have fun!

That's one cool looking dude!

That's my big hitter

He's getting ready for his pitch.

Now that's some skill! He struck out six in two innings.

This is just a picture of one of the times he was up to bat. However, in the last inning of the tournament championship game, bases were loaded and he got the walk off single to win the game! This kid is awesome!!!

Grant is always one of the smaller guys on the field whether its soccer or baseball. Eric always reminds him that "its not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog" (-Mark Twain). So true. Grant never plays at 95%. It's always 110%.

He was so happy! And I got a great big hug out of it too!
