Forest Fairies and Hairy Trees

With the weather being absolutely perfect (think 75-80 degrees with no humidity), we've been taking advantage of it. I've heard this isn't the norm for May.  We finished up work and headed out to a hiking area that is actually in Portland a couple miles from the house. The kids love it there and we choose a different hike each time we go.

If you want to see a forest with personality, this is the place!

Who said fairies don't exist in the forest? Oregon's forests have a teeny, tiny bit of green moss.  In fact, I've heard you better move at a decent pace or you'll come out wearing green as well.

We even found hairy trees.

Any tree that you can crawl inside of to play is pretty awesome.
You see Jake's sweet little face? Don't let it fool ya. He's definitely got something up his sleeve with that look! And yes, of course, that is a map that Grant is holding. We wouldn't travel through the forest on a hike without our 9 year old GPS system!

Some trees even had a face!

Then we headed off to a little town that has a lake at which time I told Ally: "We almost bought a house here with a "swimming deed".  You could have been swimming all summer!".

I know, cruel Mother! Hehehe

Nice, tired, dirty, sweaty little boys is such good thing.

This is what you're supposed to do at sculptures, right?

Ahhh.....UU Yogurt......YUMMY!!!

Come on SUMMER!!! WE ARE READY!!!!
